Thrombi is a native plant, found in various parts of Greece. Its use was particularly widespread during ancient times, as Theophrastus and Dioscorides (fathers of herbal medicine) mention its use in their works. Its taste is reminiscent of thyme and oregano. Besides, its use in cooking and herbal medicine, the ancient Greeks made aromatic wine with thrombus, known as thrombi wine. Due to its digestive action, even today it is used as an additive in digestive liqueurs.
